Hans-Peter Feldmann's 1 Pound Strawberries (2004)exhibited at the ICA this winter, plays with ideas of classification and measurement. The isolation of each strawberry is visually arresting, reminiscent of food advertisements and also early learning books of 'types', particularly Janet and Allan Ahlberg's The Baby's Catalogue
The title and arrangement implies 1 Pound Strawberries is a batch of generics. Yet each photograph's sharp focus draws attention to their individual lustre, indentation and shade of red.

IAll the clothes of a woman (1973-2002), Feldmann creates another set of 'types', this time exploring the elliptical nature of clothes isolated from their wearers, in 70 black and white and color photographs.
